It has been a few months since the last Brio model was posted here. I have been guiding my son Lee-Kuo in modeling and lighting in Cinema 4d with his lovely Lego models. Anyway, here is another great wooden toy which is no longer available. I find it such a pity these old classic toys are disappearing from the toy shops. Until the next Brio, have fun with the wooden railway.

I was with Lee-Kuo as he put this model together, we were sitting in the first Starbucks in Taichung. It took him less than two hours to build this model from the Lego blocks he had already modeled. He did a quick render with a spotlight and it looked superb. I kept the original camera angle but changed the lighting and this is what turned out. Until the next post, happy rendering.

I just recognized this blog is one year old, it’s amazing how fast time flies. I would like to thank everyone who has visited this blog and left a comment or has found it useful for their 3d projects. May everyone find peace and truth.

As Lee-Kuo was building a formula 1 racing car in Cinema 4d he just decided to render this view with a spotlight. To his amazement this is the picture Cinema rendered and he wanted to put it on this blog, it’s one of those beautiful backlit high contrast pics. Lee-Kuo is having a lot of fun exploring 3d.

Finally Lee-Kuo had time to finish his brilliant first ever Cinema 4d model. He did an incredible job of learning the basics of 3d and what a lovely result it is. Originally he wanted to do a stop animation of building the car but some pieces were missing so he modeled it instead. I’m sure he will do an animation of building the car and put it on YouTube. Finally after many months of modeling, texturing, lighting and animation the Drawdio instruction video is complete. It seems that people are interested in this video because in just 5 days 6000 people have watched it and given it a good rating, thank you. Originally I wanted to use the Drawdio for the soundtrack but decided to keep it very quiet and relaxed, so I used Bloom, a wonderful little app from Brian Eno. click here to watch the Drawdio video

This was the second hole my son made during the summer vacation. As you can see it was a challenge to saw the wood at strange angles, but he did well. He found it much easier to make this model than the real thing. This is hole no.6 the maze. Until the next post, take care.

The summer vacation ended last week and it’s time to start showing what we did in those 2 months. My son began by making a miniature mini golf set completely made out of wood. We used an aluminium sheet and real sand for this hole which is called the ski jump. He completed 7 holes this summer which he has modeled in cinema. So here is hole no.1 and take a look at his lego car, it’s slowly being built. Until the next post, happy putting.

The summer vacation is nearly over and my son wanted me to put his first model on my blog. Although it’s not complete, he is doing an amazing job of drawing splines in illustrator and learning how to model in Cinema 4d. This is the first rendering and I think it looks spectacular, well done son.
