Cylinder maze

Here we are at the beginning of the summer holidays and Lee-Kuo designs this fantastic cylinder maze to go with his pyramid and cube mazes. This is an exploded model of the cylinder showing the complex path through the maze. We are now drawing the paper model pieces in Illustrator to make the real thing.

Mini miniature golf, hole 2

The summer vacation has begun and it’s time to get down to some serious modeling. Lee-Kuo modeled this all by himself and did a great job, he also set up the textures and lighting. This hole is called the bridge and we wanted to make a part of it from clear plastic but wasn’t possible, so we made it from wood. We are actually making these in wood and they look superb, take a look at the real thing on my DIY blog, until the next hole, good putting.

After a few days of animating and many hours of rendering on our new quad core 27″ iMac the instructions are now on youtube for your enjoyment. Many people have had an interest in this lovely house so I do hope they fulfill their purpose. All music was made with iPod apps from Brian Eno. Watch the videos here on Youtube.

Brio, cement mixer

It has been a long time since I uploaded a piece of Brio. It is one of the old ones when the trucks were made of wood. It has been 12 years since I modeled all the Brio in Cinema, it’s amazing how time flies. Until the next Brio post, happy memories of the wooden railway.

Lee-Kuo got through to the semi-finals and this is his picture after 3 hours of sitting in a classroom with his Macbook. The theme was “green energy through wind” All we can say is well done Lee-Kuo, a superb rendering which conveys the title completely. Lee-Kuo says it took one and a half hours to render and finished just in time.

DIY mini wooden speakers

These little wooden speakers were designed by my son Lee-Kuo at school. He found a pair of 10Watt 8Ω speakers and decided he wanted to build boxes for them. After he designed them we made this cinema model, then we used the 3d model as a template to build the real thing. The winter vacation is nearly over and Lee-Kuo managed to finish another 2 holes in this beautiful mini golf series. These are his models and I created the scene for this rendering. He has begun another hole which we will post when finished, until the next hole, good putting.

Pyramid maze

If you look at the my older posts you will find a cube maze which Lee-Kuo designed. This is his winter vacation project, a pyramid maze using the same grid system of 20 mm per cube. We wanted to use the same proportion as the real pyramids and so we used the magical golden ratio. Lee-Kuo designed the maze on paper and I made this 3d model. The model is then used to make the drawings for the paper model. I have nearly finished making the paper model and it looks great. Until the next post, good rendering.

Lego 4939 – Truck

This is the last of the Lego models in the 4939 kit. Once again Lee-Kuo my son, built it in Cinema and I did the final rendering. He learnt many things about 3d with this project and I have begun a stop animation of putting together the Lego racing car.
